Electronica fans will be particularly happy with the Trubass setting which gives a noticeable bass boost to the music. The ear buds are better sounding than most of the ones included with MP3 players and should be fine for most people. Audiophiles should also have no problem using their own cans with the YH We did not notice distortion at the higher volumes, but the player could be louder. Compared to the iRiver H10 , the YH is better sounding out of the box, but if you were to use your own headphones, they both would be equally good, although the H10 can support higher volume levels.
The picture viewer on the YH is very basic. Once you have your images transferred over to the device, you can browse them in a slideshow format. We love how you can output images to a television using an iPod photo and would love to see this implemented in the smaller players but no one has done this yet, including Samsung. The picture viewer really is nothing more than a novelty at this point.
The Samsung YH has a lot going for it, a simple to use interface, attractive looks and good audio fidelity. The startup time is a dreadful killer that will keep you waiting, and the YH simply feels lacking in features. For the same price you can get the iRiver H10 which comes with an integrated FM tuner, can read text files, a shorter startup sequence and a larger color screen; you get the picture we hope.
I called customer service, and they no longer make these mp3 players, so they could not offer repair on this device. Please heed my advice as well as other reviewers of the yh I had read alot of negative reviews for this player, so I wasnt sure what to expect when I got it.
BTW Got it at a good price. So far it has done everything it should with no problems. A big complaint I saw was it locked up and had to be reset alot. I think I found the reason. Upon disconnecting from your computer, you should use the diconnect hardware feature.
I havent had a lock up since I started doing the disconnect properly. Dont just pull out the USB cable. A bit slow on boot, but no big issue.
Great storage space. I use it for storing pictures and music, along with some needed files. Nice unit! Belt clip is a slacker. Careful not to drop it. Skip to main content. About this product. Make an offer:. Stock photo. June 26, at pm. Suresh says:.

Unusually, the YH can display photographs. The only problem with this is that the 41mm screen will frustrate anyone who doesn't design postage stamps. Actually, some postage stamps are bigger than 41mm -- something to think about. Unlike the iPod Photo, it has no provision for AV-out, so you won't be able to view photographs stored on your YH on a standard television screen.
It may be we're expecting too much from a Microdrive player, but the colour screen promises a lot more fun than it delivers. There's also provision for recording sound directly into the YH and encoding it on the fly. This makes it great for use as a voice recorder using the built-in microphone, or for capturing better quality recordings using a microphone and the line-in socket.
Performance MP3 players need a good beating and that's a fact. There's no telling what these things are capable of until you've taken them to the depths of hell on a mountain bike. Crashing to earth like a fleshy meteorite, we were scarred but the player wasn't. It didn't fall onto the floor though, so there's no telling how much protection our tracksuits were giving it.
There were no noticeable skipping incidents -- the music kept on playing, barely audible above the ambulance siren, but still. Battery life on the YH is an unimpressive 7 hours.
