Hello, if I order the Deluxe Upgrade Live Axle kit is there a good way to add a reverse gear to my go kart? You can but i dont give out any instructions. The only reverse gear I know of is only rated for 8 hp. The driven unit of the torque converter is what attaches to the reverse gearbox. This is also on the same website that the parts kit is for the go kart parts in the plans. I have a carter talon cc. I have replaced the carb , petcock , spark plug , gas tank and intake.
The go kart will run all day at full throttle as long as it is up on jack stands but as soon as I put it to the ground at full throttle is bogs down and kills. I also have check and it has good compression any suggestions. Think back to see if you changed anything, anything you touched. Hey kartfab I have a question I have an 07 Joyner with no engine I am trying to put a cc 18 HP duromax engine on it with a 40 series on it , in your opinion what sprocket and tire size would you use?
If your belt is catching on the rivets, then you have a serious alignment problem. My two cents? Your belt is too short or your center to center distance is too large for your belt. Would I need to upgrade the torque converter from a 30 series to a 40?
Also, the torque converters 30 or 40 series are a bad idea for High rpm applications. If you are going to rev high, you are going to need a centrifugal clutch or disc clutch. How many rpms would you consider high? How often should I clean and lub a 40 series clutch? Got a new 40 series and after about 10 hours total of driving time in a couple weeks it wants to hang up a little after driving it hard at slowing down.
It pops back in place at almost stop. What you are describing could just be an issue with idle speed. If it takes time to pop back into place, then you may need to bump your idle rpms down. To explain you have to understand that this 40 series kit like most other 40 series kits is advertised with a red spring preinstalled. Now the issue is that my order, which contained 2 items a 40 series torque converter, and a yellow spring i ended up paying for a spring that i didnt need.
I wasnt notified that the springs were changed out or substituted. And didnt recieve any heads up that i was buying something i didnt need. I did call a few times 2 hours before close and didnt get an answer so i just moved past it. Drive clutch froze shut engaging the belt constantly after just a few test runs around my neighborhood. Ran this on a stock Predator cc Hemi. Very disappointed with the quality of this unit given its price. It cost almost as much as my Predator did and its already kaput.

Torque Converters that use a belt and a chain are required for go karts with tires taller than 15". It must be bolted tight against the engine crankshaft shoulder. Recommended Torque for bolt - 24 ft. The belt, when straight in the sheaves, should also be square to the engine crankshaft and jackshaft.
The center line of crankshaft and the jackshaft must be parallel at all times. Inspect the torque converter on a regular basis for dirt, frayed belts and any other potential problem obvious from a visual inspection. Always service units before each season.
